SUNNY JUNE (we hope). The Wednesday Ladies days have been very well attended in May because the afternoons were sunny and warmish and happy afternoons bowling was had by all. We had 49 playing one Wednesday which is absolutely great and very gratifying in view of the low number of ladies playing in some other Clubs.

We had mixed results in the Heather League, winning one match and losing the other but better news in other Competitions. Jean Peden has got through to the Semi-finals in Bowls Scotland Senior Singles and will play on Thursday 30th May. Unfortunately the Pairs were defeated in the Bowls Scotland. Jenny Clark got through in the ESWBA Singles and plays on 4th June and the Rink got through and will also play on 4th June. The Triples in the ESWBA won their match and will play again on 6th June. The EWBA Top Ten are playing on 3rd June at Brunstane. It is always very encouraging when members turn up to give players support at their various matches and all details, times and dates are marked up in the Ladies Changing Room. Check them out and pop along to fly the flag for Blackhall.

We have friendly matches against Willowbrae on Tuesday 11th and Goldenacre on Tuesday 18th. Both matches are Away. We also have a match against Maitland on 27th June at Home.

The Centenary Quaich will be played on Wednesday 26th starting at 10.30am. Put your name down if you wish to take part in this usually enjoyable day.

On Saturday 29th there will be Bowls/Fish and Chips followed by a Jazz Band starting at 3.30pm. The list is now up. Add your name it will be a good afternoon.

On Friday 27th September there will be an outing to Pitlochry Theatre to see ‘Blonde Bombshells of 1943’ followed by High Tea. Margo Dunn is taking names with a £10 deposit. If you wish to come along give your name to Margo now.

We are, of course, always looking for new Members for the Club and if you have anyone you think would be interested in joining bring them along on a Wednesday afternoon or to a Saturday Coaching morning to give it a try.
